by Nancy Chui 崔亮欣 (BSc Industrial Economics)

Meet Tiffany - Suzanne & Michael Wong's new born daughter!
    Sharing by Suzanne Fung (MBA)

Tiffany was born on 22nd June 06, almost two weeks before my expected delivery date. I was so unprepared that I went shopping for her just the day before she was born. My husband also thought that baby was not going to be born so soon as he commented that I walked very fast in the shopping mall on that day.

Don't You Have Time to Think?
Book review by Eastman Cheong (BSc Mathematics & Economics)

Richard Feynman won the Nobel prize in Physics in 1965 for his contributions in the theory of quantum electrodynamics. The New York Times described him as "the most brilliant, iconoclastic and influential of the postwar generation of theoretical physicists."

The book, edited by Feynman's daughter Michelle, is a collection of hundreds of letters that he wrote to his family, friends, students, critics, colleagues and fans. These letters are interesting, touching and witty.

5 Steps of Drinking Wines - Observe, smell, taste
By Franco Lee (MSc Electronic Business Management)

This article is to summarize some articles I read about wines and the experience of tasting wines in the past 2 years. Each person has his own approach to wine tasting. For me, the first thing is to relax. Wine tasting is a very personal experience, meaning that your evaluation of a wine may differ from other people.

  Panoramic Photography
By Dominic W. L. Fung (MSc Electronic Business Management)

Nowadays, photography is a very common and affordable hobby, most people may have owned their digital camera (DC), and even cell phones are equipped with a tiny camera for you to snap. I own my first camera few years ago, and it was a decent DC with 3 mega pixels. I still remember I was so addicted to take photos when I was studying in the University of Warwick, especially when I was traveling during holidays. I was so excited to explore something which I have ever seen in Hong Kong...

Strong Medicine: Creating Incentives for Pharmaceutical Research on Neglected Diseases

Book review by Eastman Cheong (BSc Mathematics & Economics)

Prevalence of infectious diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS, has long been a stringent issue for the low-income countries. Yet, barely 1% of global expenditure on pharmaceuticals goes into the research and development (R&D) of products for diseases affecting 90% of the world's population.* Why? It is because advanced countries have been developing pharmaceuticals that target on the rich markets. Most research on HIV vaccines, for instance, is aimed at the strain of the virus common in rich countries.....

The Advantages of Multidisciplinary Teamwork in Geriatric Services in Hong Kong
     by
Henry Mok (MSc Manufacturing Systems Engineering - IGDS)

In Hong Kong, there are around 1 million people over the age of 60. There is usually more than one dimension to fulfill the needs of the elderly. Most old people suffer from several simultaneous problems. Many of the most challenging management problems address on how to deal with the interactions among several diseases and their treatment. Moreover, old people’s needs include health care, psychological care, social life .....

活在中國以外 by Stanley Wong (MSc IT for Manufacture)

Winning Over SARS by Professor C W K Lam (Warwick graduate 1970)

My colleagues and I in Hong Kong have just gone through a very unusual period, the like of which we had never experienced before in our careers. Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a highly contagious and potentially lethal infection from a newly discovered corona RNA virus spread by droplet transmission...

流光聚影 by Virginia Pak (BEd Arts Education)
