Hiking on Lamma Island

18.11.2007 + Lamma Island

On 18th November 2007, eighteen Warwickers and friends gathered at the Central Pier in the afternoon, waiting for the ferry to the Lamma Island. Obviously, all of us were very excited and could not wait to take the very first group photo on board before landing on our starting point – Yung Shue Wan.

The sky was hazy but the weather was dry and cool enough to make it the best day to go for a walk. It should be a 45 minutes walk from Yung Shue Wan (榕樹灣) to Sok Kwu Wan (索罟灣) but we probably broke the record of the longest duration by taking 3 hours to finish the whole journey.

The best plan of the day was having ‘no plan’, which enabled us to improvise with loads of fun and surprises – the doubt of taking the wrong route, the long-wait for the tofu dessert from Grandma Tofu, the excitement of reaching the windmill, the enjoyment of the scenery at the top of the island, etc.

It was certainly better to take a relaxing walk in the country than stretch ourselves in the gym. The time was just right when we arrived Sok Kwu Wan to either catch the ferry back or enjoy the delicious seafood dinner. No matter what we chose, it was a wonderfully enjoyable day.
