The WGAHK Annual Dinner 2008 was
well-attended by over
100 Warwick alumni and
friends. For the third
consecutive year, we
were delighted to have
Professor Nigel Thrift,
Warwick¡¦s
Vice-Chancellor and the
Honorary President of
WGAHK to be our guest of
honour. Among the
participants there were
also a number of Warwick
staff from various
departments.
Dr Roy Chung and Mr Chip
Tsao received the
trophies from the
Vice-Chancellor in
appreciation of their
being selected in the
¡§60 Alumni¡¨ by the
British Council Hong
Kong.
A big farewell to the
year 2008 and our
warmest welcome to 2009
which marks our 15th
anniversary.
To echo the theme of the
evening, Warwickers
dressed glitteringly in
red. The dinner was
kicked off by a welcome
speech by Mr Edward Tan,
WGAHK 2008 Chairman.
Prof Thrift then updated
us on the latest
developments of the
University. In a
relaxing ambience,
Warwickers enjoyed
themselves in the buffet
dinner while seeing old
faces and meeting new
acquaintances. Amid the
joy and laugher, Mrs
Thrift kindly served as
our ¡§Santa Girl¡¨ and
distributed Christmas
presents to all
participating children
as well as the Best
Costume Awards to the
winners.
Our exciting games and lucky
draw added to the
festive atmosphere of
the evening with dozens
of prizes given out to
the winners. Among them
Ms Christine Chi (MBA
graduate) had the best
of luck, winning both
the net book - the grand
prize of the lucky draw,
and also the special
prize-¡§Name a Seat¡¨ at
the Butterworth Hall of
the Warwick Arts Centre
donated by the
Vice-Chancellor!
WGAHK would like to convey their
gratitude to the many
sponsors who contributed
to the success of the
evening. They include
the dinner sponsors:
Warwick Development and
Alumni Relations Office
and Warwick Business
School; the champagne
and wine sponsor Mr KK
Mui (MBA graduate),
Director of Berry Bros &
Rudd, and other prize
sponsors. We were also
delighted to announce
that the raffle sale
this year has raised a
record-high of $15,940
for WGAHK.
The Annual Dinner marked a full
end of the year 2008 and
the beginning of the
celebratory year of
WGAHK¡¦s 15th anniversary
in 2009.
