Scholarship Reviews 2008

We are delighted to announce that Miss Joyce Hoi-Hei Tsang has been awarded the WGAHK 2008 Scholarship that is worth HK$20,000.

A total of 32 applications have been received for the Scholarship. A screening panel comprising of WGAHK current & former executive committee members met on 3 September 2008 to shortlist candidates down to just 5.  Applicants were evaluated with criteria that include their academic credentials, extra-curricular achievements, social contribution and personal statement.

On 7 September 2008 the short-listed candidates attended a panel interview at the Warwick Hong Kong Office.  This year, members of the Judge Panel include:- Mr. Jon Baldwin, Registrar, University of Warwick, Miss Lisa Djeng, WGAHK Scholarship Founding Chairman and Dr. Red Chan, Lecturer, University of Warwick. The panel put different questions, sometimes rather difficult questions, to the short-listed candidates.

Short-listed Candidates were being evaluated by their extra-curricular achievements, social contribution and personal qualities & aspirations.  After some tough time of discussion, the Judge Panel decided to award the WGAHK 2008 Scholarship to Miss Joyce Hoi-Hei Tsang.

On 13 September 2008, Warwick Graduatesˇ¦ Association Hong Kong and Warwick Hong Kong Office jointly held a reception for the scholarship award ceremony. All five short-listed candidates received a WGAHK certificate and a HK$500 book coupon as a token of encouragement.  The winner this year, Joyce was then presented by the founding chairman of WGAHK, Mr. Terry Yeung with a symbolic cheque of HK$20,000.00 with the actual scholarship award being sent direct to her account at the University.

WGAHK would congratulate all the applicants of their excellent achievements, and wish every one of them to have a rewarding time studying at Warwick.
