活在中國以外 by Stanley Wong (MSc IT for Manufacture) 最近,我看過一輯關於姚明的專訪。平平無奇的訪問內容對我來說沒什麼關係,但這輯訪問卻給我帶來了一點的震撼! 這陣子,我一直在尋找在英國或澳洲的工作及定居的機會,為了要在一些有「生活」的地方過活。在那個專訪中,一個在美國長大的中國女子用流利的英語一句一句的訪問著姚明,姚明以普通話回應著。 本來,這個是沒什麼特別。震撼的來源是來自他們身旁的一個美國人 – 女生跟姚明的翻譯員。鏡頭前的訪問員跟被訪者都是中國人,到底是什麼原因,要一個美國人來幹翻譯的工作?當時,我的腦海中突然浮現起在華威的一些生活片段 – 一位來自上海的朋友跟我說:「跟中國人(某些香港人)說英語真是不爽呀!」另一位北京人的話:為什麼香港人大多不懂說,也聽不懂普通話? 要是我真的能夠到外國定居,我的孩子會不會要跟中國人用英語溝通呢?
